Marty Maddox
Marty Miller Maddox is a Research Assistant for the CTNS--Science and
Religion Course Program in Berkeley, California. Currently, he is researching
the creation/evolution controversy and preparing a lengthy paper that will
serve as a CTNS background statement regarding the controversy. Marty is also
studying for a Ph.D. in Systematic and Philosophical Theology at the Graduate
Theological Union, Berkeley. He has shown a great interest in studying problems
relating faith and reason, as well as issues regarding theological
anthropology.
Previously, Marty received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from
Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, a Master of Divinity in Historical
and Theological Studies from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard,
Illinois, a Master of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Sacred Theology from Andover Newton Theological
School in Newton Centre, Massachusetts. As an ordained minister in the American
Baptist Churches in the U.S.A., Marty has served many years as a local church
pastor in Illinois and Massachusetts. Presently, Marty and his wife Cheryl
reside in Berkeley, as they both look forward to continuing their careers in
higher education.
