Lucretius, Titus Lucretius Carus (99/94-55/51 BCE)
Ancient Latin poet and expounder of the philosophy of Epicurus. In De
Rerum Natura (On the Nature of
Things), he dealt with Epicurean atomic theory, the mortality of the
soul, sensation and thought, the origins and development of the world, and
various natural phenomena.
