The evolutionary process seems to reflect at the very least a directionality

awareness" (Barbour 1990, p. 172). Even Jacques Monod (studiously avoiding
the term teleology) will admit in this a "teleonomy" that attends all
evolutionary biology in reproductive invariance and structural teleonomy.
