Hopefully it no longer need be reiterated that the role of theology here is purely intellectual / academic, and in no way presupposes an appeal to religious ‘authority’. Thus, while it could be seen as irrelevant, the voice of theology in such scientific issues would hopefully not be seen as offensive.
