Malthus, Thomas Robert (1766-1834) British economist and demographer - famous for his theory that population
growth will tend to exceed food supply. His conclusion was that human
reproduction should be limited to ensure the progress of the species. The idea
of over-reproduction and competition for resources was very important to Darwins
evolutionary scheme.
