Wesley, JohnEnglish preacher and
theologian (1703-1791). Wesley was
the founder of Methodism, one of the products of the evangelical religious
revival centred around the work of himself and his brother Charles in
eighteenth-century England. He
published many works, including histories, biographies, and collections of
sermons. He also adapted others works, including Edwards Treatise
Concerning Religious Affections, in abridged and edited forms for the
use of his Methodist brethren.
