Dirac, Paul (1902-84)English born theoretical physicist who shared the 1933 Nobel Prize in physics
with Erwin Schrödinger for his contributions to the development of <!g>quantum
theory and its relation to <!g>relativity theory. In 1930 Dirac also proposed the
existence of the "positron," a positively charged particle with the
same mass as the negatively charged <!g>electron. It was discovered experimentally
in 1932.
