Ted
Peters (Ph.D., University of Chicago) is Distinguished Research Professor
Emeritus of Systematic Theology and Ethics at Pacific Lutheran Theological
Seminary and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California, and
co-editor with Robert John Russell of the journal, Theology and Science, at
the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences. He has just published the 3rd
edition of his systematic theology, God--The World's Future (Fortress,
3rd ed., 2015). He is also author of Playing God? Genetic Determinism
and Human Freedom (Routledge, 2nd ed., 2002) and God in Cosmic
History (Anselm Academic 2017). He is co-author with Martinez Hewlett
of Evolution from Creation to New Creation (Abingdon
2002); Can You Believe in God and Evolution? (Abingdon, 2009).
Along with Karen Lebacqz and Gaymon Bennett, he co-authored Sacred
Cells? Why Christians Should Support Stem Cell Research (Roman and
Littlefield, 2008). In 2018, Peters and his CTNS colleagues published Astrotheology:
Science and Theology Meet Extraterrestrial Life (Cascade 2018). He
serves on the Standards Working Group (SWG) of the California Institute of
Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), which sets standards for stem cell line
derivation, oocyte donation, and related practices. For fictional espionage
